“For the creation waits with eager longing for the revealing of the sons of God.” -Romans 8:19
It is not only us who must wait with patience for the day of resurrection, but the whole creation waits with us eagerly. The Greek expression Paul uses here is ἀπεκδέχομαι ἀποκαραδοκία (awaits eagerly with eager expectation).
The eager expectation that all creation waits for is literally, the revealing of the sons of God! Nature and natures creatures await the day when the glory of the children of God will be on display. John echoes Paul when he writes in his first epistle,
“Beloved, we are God’s children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when he appears we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he is.” -1 John 3:2
It is remarkable that there is no part of the cosmos that has not be affected by the fall of man and together we anticipate the day when God makes all things new and fully glorious.
