“And again it is said, “Rejoice, O Gentiles, with his people.” And again, “Praise the Lord, all you Gentiles, and let all the peoples extol him.” And again Isaiah says, “The root of Jesse will come, even he who arises to rule the Gentiles; in him will the Gentiles hope.”” -Romans 15:10–12
Adding to his quotation of Psalm 18:49, Paul then pulls a number of examples from the Old Testament Scriptures (from Deut. 32:43, Ps. 117:1, and Isa. 11:10) to demonstrate that the Gentile inclusion in the kingdom of God was not an innovation. Matthew quotes the Isaiah passage to demonstrate similar in Matthew 12:15-21.
The inclusion of the Gentiles in the kingdom of God was part of God’s plan all along, and it is through Christ that it is fulfilled. God started with the Jews, made them a priestly nation, and through them sent the world a Messiah, Jesus.
