“I ask, then, has God rejected his people? By no means! For I myself am an Israelite, a descendant of Abraham, a member of the tribe of Benjamin.” -Romans 11:1
Since God has called the Gentiles to himself after such prolonged patience with Israel’s disobedience (All day long I have held out my hands) is it safe to say that God has rejected his people? By no means! says Paul.
He uses his own testimony as an example. God called Paul, who was a Jew of no small pedigree. Here he identifies himself as an Israelite, a descendant of Abraham, a member of the tribe of Benjamin.
In other letters he identifies himself similarly. “Are they Hebrews? So am I. Are they Israelites? So am I. Are they offspring of Abraham? So am I.” -2 Corinthians 11:22
“though I myself have reason for confidence in the flesh also. If anyone else thinks he has reason for confidence in the flesh, I have more: circumcised on the eighth day, of the people of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of Hebrews; as to the law, a Pharisee;” -Philippians 3:4–5
Since Paul is a Jew and has been called by God and saved by Christ, it can be concluded that God has not given up on the Jews. He is still working out the salvation of his people according to his sovereign will.
